Statement
Statement
As with Innerverse No. 1 and No. 2, The Annealing Room carries on the exploration of one’s inner space where healing occurs, but this time with a deeper examination of part of the process.
Annealing is a heat treatment that alters a material's (metal and/or glass) properties by inducing atomic rearrangement and stress relief, leading to increased ductility, reduced hardness, and improved workability.
The brain, like a material (metal and/or glass), can develop internal stresses and imbalances. Just as with annealing in metallurgy, our brain experiencing intense emotions can be seen as a form of "heating" which that allows for a restructuring of neural pathways. The subsequent "cooling" or processing of those experiences allows for the formation of new, more stable and flexible patterns.
This analogy is a way of understanding how intense experiences, both positive and negative, can reshape our minds, leading to increased resilience and adaptability.
I invite you to think of some aspects of healing like a metalworker heating and then slowly cooling a piece of metal to relieve internal stresses and make it stronger and more flexible.
