This diptych explores the profound sense of emptiness and disconnection due to the anguish of being disregarded by someone previously believed to be reliable. (Friend, lover, family member) Due to the pain of abandonment and uncertainty, when a trusted person fails to show care, one may deliberately disregard warning signs because of the overwhelming desire for deep connection; One may overlook hurtful behavior from others, hoping they'll change, even if they show no signs of doing so.
This diptych conveys the disorientating feeling brought on by the emotional turmoil of feeling lost and isolated in the absence of a much-desired genuine connection - Lost in a snowstorm of broken trust.
“... the reality is that most people don’t live in reality; they live in a heavily-rationalized reality, based on either what they think is reasonable (even if reality doesn’t match up and their being reasonable puts them in harm’s way) or what they want reality to be.”
